Bob Redington led his 1965 Vols team to third place in the NCAA Championships.

He represented the USA at the 1966 World Cross Championships in Europe

Doug Brown was a two-time All-American in cross country who finished as the runner-up in the 1972 NCAA Championship, helping the Vols to the national title. He went on to coach the Vols to three SEC Championships from 1985-94.
