John Ellington, 1962-66

Coach Rohe coordinated recruiting for football at the same time he was head coach of the track team. One of his innovations was to ask pretty high school juniors and seniors from the Knoxville schools to be Vol hostesses when the recruits came to town for their campus visits. My highlight was picking up the high school senior in North Knoxville (Fulton HS) who was later Miss Tennessee. Her name was Virginia Graves, and she was as nice in person as her later title. This was for football for which Coach Rohe recruited. Wonder where those football players came from in the late '60s?
