STORIES ABOUT THE RAILROAD TRESTLE OVER LAKE LOUDON

Dickie Fairbanks and Norman Pelletier were involved in several memorable escapades. One early morning we took off on our run across the Henley Street Bridge on our way to the "mountain." Somewhere in the darkness, Norman and Dickie took what they later called a "shortcut" across the mountain. The shortcut was a railroad trestle across the river. About half way across, here comes a train, and it ain't stopping. They had two choices: get hit or get wet. They chose the latter. I just remember Norman saying that when he finally got back to the surface, all he could see was the engineer looking out his window as he chugged on across the bridge.
